Fish of the month: Apr 2013
This months award goes to Mr Peter Ross……..AGAINÂ
Â
Â
for his cracking 115lb male Common Skate. I have lost count at this stage to the amount of times Peter has won this award, but it is a credit to him that he keeps pulling these beauties up from the deep ![]()
So well done yet again to Peter and the question remains , who can challenge him for May’s award…..the first Tope of 2013 possibly ? ?

Hard to keep a good man down…
With the weather getting the better of Graham and a sea outing out of the question, he quickly turned his attentions to the Oaks Fishery. Buzzers and nymph’s proved to be the top flies of the day, resulting in 10 trout falling to Graham aboard the kayak. Some fine fishing in anyone’s estimations , well done that man !

Great Escape
The usual suspects took up the Skate Hunt, but this time aboard a Warrior 165 , as the Redbays were in for a service. As per usual Peter delivered , with a fine male  Skate of 115lb,eventually crossing the gunnels of the Warrior , after a 2 hour fight – rather you than me Peter, but well done , yet again.
This fine Skate also won catch of the week here http://fishinginireland.info/news/sea-reports/23225/

March Madness
With reports very slow at the minute , there was not a lot of expectancy among the crew of Screeming Reels. Â However , true to form they came up with the goods in fine style. Â Ling to 24lb, Cod to 12lb, Haddock to Specimen weight of 7.05lb and even a few plaice to 2lb. What more can be said, a dream day by any mans standards.

182lb Skate makes trip worthwhile
Yet another monster skate from the heart of Larne and Peter Ross is the conqueror once again. Â Things had been quiet for the locals of Larne as of late and Peter was not convinced a trip would be worth it. Thankfully for him he decided to plug ahead and was rewarded with a cracking Skate, just lb’s off a new personal best. Well done to Peter and maybe fish such as this Skate might help convince local authorities not to dumps tonnes of brine and possibly ruin a fantastic fishery and potentially damage the revival of these beautiful fish.
