Right lads really serious one here involving the faith of or future as anglers. I do not think we anglers realise just what a threat the GREEN PARTY are to us. They are totally against all field sports of all kind fishing ,shooting, hunting ,coursing ,ferreting ect…. . (and they also charge us extra tax to put petrol in our cars).
I hear the attitude out there of people saying they will never ban fishing and to be honest I don’t think they will get that far before they get voted out , BUT they will do their best to do it bit by bit. One of the first thing they will go for will be the use and storage of live bait (NO more lug, rag ,crab maggots,lob worms),they will put so much restrictions on us we may as well give up.

What can we do? There is already a lot going on behind the scenes by the hunting crowd and RISE(rural Ireland says enough) its time all of us got on to our clubs to get them involved and for them to get on to the ifsa ,we pay them money to represent us as anglers and we need them now.
I was at a meeting this evening at which anglers, gun club men and hunting people attended and it is now planned to hold a protest march at the green party ard fheis which is been held in the tower hotel in Waterford on the 27th march.
We need all anglers and country sports people to attend, someone else wont do it lads we all need to go. Ill have more info soon but any one can give me a buzz who are interested in helping.

I heard this on Today Fm during the week, Tuesday night i think, i honestly could not believe what i was hearing i thought it was some sort of wind up, however, apparently not The Ward Union Hunt ban was only the first step on this agenda that The Greens apparently have.

well eddie they prob never ban fishing in its self but imagen they new how we get our peeler crabs??????crab traps be a thing of the past imagen how hard it can be to get crab now? as for using poor little worms alive that could be a thing of past too as to where we can fish?

I agree Barry, they might not stop us immediately but they will keep whittling away at our sports until its not worth the bother anymore . We must resist these people as they are very persistent and strong in their opinions, this is why we must also be strong in support of not just sea angling, but all branches of angling and other fieldsports under threat from the " Greenies". Together as one there is strength in numbers!

Might I suggest that as many of us as possible join the Irish Countryside Allience. Its thereto protect the interests of all fieldsports. I am involved on the fringes and know that they are frustrated that more anglers will not join up. Perhaps anglers do not wat to be lumped tohether with the hunting fraternaty. But the "Antis" have already done that. Another bebefit is hat you get insurance when you join up. The C.A.I. consider that by going against angling they are just gatting the thin end of the wedge in. Other outdoor sports will follow. Remember the old saying "united we stand". Give it a thought anyway.
My own opinion is that the "Antys" do not know the difference between hunting and killing. They cannot understand the consept of enjoying a days fishing even if you blank.
