ok, so there's two accounts of brake failure being the cause of a mishap. How can you mitigate against that? Put vehicle in gear when launching?
Do you always switch off the vehicle engine when launching? I've been reluctant to do this with the thoughts of a rising tide and a car that suddenly won't start.

I think we need to write a book alright, not on slipway mishaps, but slipway technique ( and etiquette!)

Yeah, I think you need the right box ticked both to tow and launch; at DL, I think there is a notice saying you need a towing license to use the slip. Dezzer knows the score on licenses - I always thought that a straight driving license covered towing as well, but apparently that's not the case.
