Seen as it's been a very rare sight in recent weeks maybe months now  thought I should show you this:

Image

I still managed to show him who the Trout expert is though, me 11 trout, Col 2 Trout :shifty: all though his was the biggest at 2lb
I have been using some different hooks recently for the strips of mack bait, ideal for the trout!

Image

I didn't realize sand eels were around at this time of year until I saw what came out of this one

CFB wrote:Anglers are legally required to be in possession of a licence when fishing for salmon or sea trout. Licences can be purchased from a number of sources, including fishing tackle shops, Regional Fisheries Boards and some fisheries.

On purchasing a licence anglers receive a copy of the Salmon Angling Regulations which provides information on bag limits, mandatory catch and release fisheries, open and closed fisheries, gill tags and how to return your completed logbook and tags. Licences can be purchased for periods from 1 day to 1 year.

A licence does not confer the right to fish; a fishing permit is usually required and must be obtained separately. A fishing permit generally costs from €20 to €50 per day. Some of the more exclusive fisheries can be more expensive.

http://www.fishinginireland.info/salmon ... icence.htm

There was a discussion recently on another board about this, the regulations seemed a bit vague in relation to fishing for them in the sea. So a few Anglers contacted the CFB and were told in no uncertain terms you need a license to target Sea trout and Salmon in the Sea no matter if you fishing catch and release or not

This applies to the North as well ..

Yes Kev it's right enough what Andy says there, it's best to have a licence to be on the safe side  there were a good few Bass caught on Inch last Sunday in the comp, up to 10lb as well, not sure about Trabeg haven't heard anything.

Castlemaine harbour, +/- 1 hr of lw seems best, only in 5'-6' of water, sandy.
Rig 2 hook flapper, 12'' snoods, hooks as above, very thin slice frozen mack 3'' x 3/8'' - pointy ended :shifty:
nick hook through 3 times and slide up on baitholder barbs, holds great with those hooks, and lasts well, we only used 2 macks between us.

Home made swivel booms for rig:
